Privacy Policy

Last updated: 28 September 2026

ADULIS Learn ("we", "our") is operated by The SIUM Group in Toronto, Canada. This policy explains what information is collected when you use our website (adulis.app), the web app (learntigrinya.app) and the ADULIS Learn mobile app, how it is used, and your choices.

The short version: your learning progress stays on your device. If you register on our website, we keep your email and the answers you choose to give, only to give you access and tell you about the apps. We don't sell data, we don't run ads, and the app doesn't record or store your voice.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Learning progress (on your device)

Your progress, day streak, completed lessons and practice results are stored locally on your device (in the app's storage on iPhone and Android, or in your browser's storage for the web app). This information is not sent to us.

1.2 Onboarding answers (on your device)

When you first open ADULIS Learn, we ask optional questions — for example, why you're learning and who you're learning for. Your answers are stored on your device to personalise the app and are not sent to us.

1.3 Website registration

If you register on adulis.app, we collect your email address and, if you choose to give them, your first name, the type of phone you use, your current Tigrinya level, and who you're learning for (yourself, your children, or both). If you tick the updates box, we will also email you occasional news; otherwise we only email you when the mobile apps launch publicly.

Registration details are received and stored through Netlify Forms, the service that hosts our website. We also save a small note in your browser so that the website remembers you've registered and takes you straight to the web app next time.

1.4 Voice input in the Travel companion

In the web app, you can tap the microphone and speak a phrase in English. This uses your browser's built-in speech recognition. Depending on your browser and device, your speech may be processed by the browser or operating-system provider (for example, Google or Apple) to turn it into text, under their privacy policies. ADULIS Learn only receives the resulting text, uses it to find a matching phrase, and does not record, store or send your audio to us. Your browser will ask your permission before the microphone is used, and you can type instead.

The iPhone and Android apps do not use the microphone.

1.5 App diagnostics

The mobile app may download content updates and may use anonymous technical information (such as crash reports) to keep it working. This does not include your name, email or learning answers.

1.6 Information we do not collect

2. How We Use Information

We use registration details only to give you access to the web app, to tell you when the mobile apps launch, to send updates if you asked for them, and to understand who we are building for. Information on your device is used only to run the app for you.

3. Service Providers and Third Parties

We use a small number of trusted providers to run ADULIS Learn: Netlify (website and web-app hosting, and registration forms), Expo (mobile app builds and updates), and Apple and Google (app distribution, testing and any future purchases). They process information only as needed to provide their services.

Our social media pages (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok and YouTube) are run on those platforms. If you follow, message or comment there, the platform's own privacy policy applies.

We will update this policy before adding any new service that receives your personal information.

4. Children

Many families use ADULIS Learn to help their children learn Tigrinya. The app itself does not require an account and keeps progress on the device. The website registration form is intended for parents and adults; children under 13 should not register themselves. If you believe a child has registered, contact us and we will delete the details.

5. Keeping and Deleting Your Information

We keep registration details until you ask us to delete them or we no longer need them to tell you about ADULIS Learn. To have your registration deleted, or to stop receiving emails, write to us at the address below — or use the unsubscribe link in any email.

Information on your device stays there until you remove it: uninstall the app, clear the app's data, or clear your browser's site data for learntigrinya.app and adulis.app.

6. Your Rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. We will respond within 30 days.

7. Security

ADULIS Learn is designed to keep your data on your device by default. Our website and web app are served only over secure (HTTPS) connections, and access to registration details is limited to the ADULIS team.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as ADULIS Learn develops. Changes will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
